Citrus Fruits are NOT Braces Friendly!
Just a reminder that Citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines and grapefruits are not braces – friendly. I’m not talking about the eating part, yes you can eat them, but after you’ve eaten them you may notice that little pieces are stuck in every bracket of your braces and your lips can get very dry as well. Make sure that you rinse your mouth a lot of times with water and floss after eating the fruits because the little pieces are just hiding behind your brackets. Beware!
Holiday Candy and Your Teeth
Cross the candy canes off your list. Candy canes are a holiday tradition, but braces-wearers should really cross them off their holiday list altogether. Biting into this hard candy can spell disaster for metal braces. Replace high-risk treats with safer options, like soft or liquid treats, fresh fruit, smoothies or milkshakes.
Flossing with Braces
Flossing with braces isn’t easy but it is necessary. Here’s a video with helpful tips.
